ICES-PICES-CIESM session: Bioinvasion trajectories and impacts in contrasting marine environments

The Invasive Alien Molluscs session aims to discuss the most important issues on the reasons and consequences of mollusc invasions in order to identify threats, main mechanisms of impact and find remedies.

The goal of the EMAPI 2017 is to promote the opportunity to share findings and experiences - research, management, and policy - with professionals from around the world.

The symposium will bring together invasion ecologists and macroecologists, working on many different taxonomic groups, to build a global synthesis of alien species distribution and richness.

Island flora and fauna are particularly vulnerable to invasive alien species (IAS), and many insular endemics have been driven to extinction by these invaders. On the other hand, islands may also offer the possibility of long-term refuge and security if alien species can be eradicated or effectively controlled.

The purpose of the Conference is to present the new EU Action Plan, which follows up the Fitness Check of the Nature Directives, and to discuss its implementation with Member States and stakeholders.
