The long-leaved wattle ( Acacia longifolia ) is one of the invasive plants with the greatest impact on coastal ecosystems in mainland Portugal. It produces many seeds, which accumulate in the soil for several years and facilitate its expansion and reinvasion of already intervened areas.
To help reduce seed production of this invasive plant, a natural control agent was introduced in Portugal: *Trichilogaster acaciaelongifoliae *, a small Australian gall-forming insect.
