The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1262 of 25 July 2019 adds 17 alien species (4 animals, 13 plants) to the existing list of invasive alien species of Union concern, according to the EU Regulation 1143/2014.
The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1262 of 25 July 2019 adds 17 alien species (4 animals, 13 plants) to the existing list of invasive alien species of Union concern, according to the EU Regulation 1143/2014.
After a thorough evaluation process of the relevant Pest Risk Assessments led by DG Environment, and involving the Scientific Forum and the Invasive Alien Species Committee, composed by Member States Competent Authorities, the species were considered requiring a concerted action at European level to prevent their introduction, establishment or spread, minimizing or mitigating their adverse impact on biodiversity.
The total number of the invasive alien species on the Union list is now 66.
