Some alien species (mosquitoes, ticks) have greater rates of density during the summer
Summer season is a period in which outdoor activities can be more enjoyable. However, some alien species (mosquitoes, ticks) have greater rates of density during the summer putting at risk human well-being while being outdoors.
Taking into account good practices to prevent the expansion of alien species around us and protect our health is important when practising summer activities. There are many tips than can become practical habits to this aim in our summer routine, from gardening at home (e.g. removing the remaining water from plant pots to prevent the reproduccion of the tiger mosquito), to hiking in nature (e.g. wearing long sleeves, do not leaving the trail to prevent ticks).
In addition, Citizen Science apps can help us to report these species, be informed in advance on where can be safer to practise sports in nature or what to do in case of a bite.
