Jochen Vandekerkhove (Ph.D.) is a Belgian freshwater ecologist. He studied different aspects of the ecology of zooplankton, ostracods and alien species, and this in different environments (shallow lakes, temporary ponds, WFD surface water bodies) and contexts (scientific and policy oriented). 

 

Within the Water Resources Unit of the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (JRC) he did pioneering work for the EASIN platform, including conceptual design, capacity building, networking, development of the alien species catalogue and web content management.
