Synergies between OneSTOP, GuardIAS and EASIN
The Joint Research Center hosts the joint kick-off meeting of the GuardIAS and Onestop projects, funded under the Horizon Europe programme, from January 20th to 23rd. The two project focus respectively on invasive alien species in the marine and freshwaters environment and in the terrestrial one. The purpose of the meeting is to give an overview of the two projects, their structures, objectives, and planned outputs/deliverables. Presentations advocated for synergies between the two projects to maximise their impact, particularly on communication, dissemination, and stakeholders’ engagement.
This joint meeting constitutes an occasion to discuss technical innovations, workflows, and methods for rapid IAS detection, prioritization for management, in support to policy implementation.
Working package leaders agreed on actionable plans for the start of the project.
In this context, EASIN participates by providing an overview of the information system, discussing collaboration with the two projects, through data sharing and tailored services. In parallel, the EASIN communication team presented a storytelling play to create awareness among citizens about the problem of alien species, well received and inspirational for the researchers attending the meeting.
