The implementation of EU Regulation 1143/2014 on Invasive Alien Species has seen the fruitful collaboration between the Commission and Member States Competent Authorities in the preparation of a Baseline distribution of the 37 Invasive Alien Species (IAS) of Union concern (published in the Commission Implementing Reg. 1141/2016).
The Baseline and relevant geospatial data have been published through a Science for Policy Report https://easin.jrc.ec.europa.eu/Documentation/Baseline. The report provides useful information supporting MS in the implementation of the EU Regulation on IAS and in the establishment of a surveillance system for the targeted species, fostering cooperation and coordination across borders or within shared biogeographical regions.
The Baseline geospatial data have been now incorporated in the EASIN geodatabase and searchable through EASIN web services.
The Baseline for the IAS species of Union concern listed by Commission Implementing Reg. 1263/2017 is currently under preparation.
