The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1262 of 25 July 2019 entered into force on the 15th August 2019 (the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union).
17 alien species (4 animals, 13 plants) have been added to the list of invasive alien species of Union concern, according to the EU Regulation 1143/2014, bringing the total of regulated species to 66. The listing of a species implies: a ban on sales, the organisation of a surveillance system aimed at early detection and rapid eradication of new introductions, the control of pathways of introduction, taken care by Member States Competent Authorities.
The "Invasive Alien Species in Europe" App is being updated to allow reporting of the listed invasive alien species by citizens.
