The EU Regulation 1143/2014 sets the rules to prevent the unintentional and intentional introduction of invasive alien species in Europe. Official controls, as foreseen by art. 15 of the Regulation, are carried out by Member States Competent Authorities at border inspection posts to detect the intentional introduction of IAS of Union concern.
Recently, live specimens of Procambarus clarkii were intercepted at border inspections posts by Netherlands and Cyprus authorities, and notified to all EU MS Competent Authorities using the platform NOTSYS, hosted by EASIN.
