A united action against Vespa velutina in northern Italy
This is the aim of LOVER, a diffused network of sentinel beehives which involves three regions in northern Italy (LOmbardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna).
This is the aim of LOVER, a diffused network of sentinel beehives which involves three regions in northern Italy (LOmbardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna).
The network has been stimulated by the Stopvelutina Life Project involving beekeper association of the three regions. Training was provided to the volunteers involved and traps were deployed around the beehives. The network has already allowed to spot the presence of the harmful insect in Rovigo province (Veneto).
An open call has been launched to citizens to report the presence of primary nests.
