Asian Hornet detected in UK

The Asian hornet (Vespa velutina nigrithorax) has been found in the Tetbury area of Gloucestershire – the first time the hornet has been discovered in the UK.

The European Commission and Member States have been notified of the presence of the species in the UK territory and of measures to be pursued for its eradication.
