12 species enrich the list of invasive species of Union concern
By means of the Commission Implementing Regulation 1263/2017, 12 further invasive alien species (IAS) have been added to the list of IAS of Union concern, approved by EU Commission Implementing Regulation 1141/2016. The total number of regulated species on the list is now 49.

Member States are requested by the EU Regulation 1143/2014 on IAS to establish a surveillance system for monitoring and avoid the introduction or further spread of the listed species, notifying the Commission and the other Member States about their appearance on the national territory and to apply eradication measures.
DG Environment webpage has been updated and includes a new brochure describing all 49 the species (at the moment only available in English).
EASIN is updating its webservices and the Smart application Invasive Alien Species Europe to cater for the 12 new species of Union concern.
