Have you seen an alien?

EASIN training at EU Academy

As announced in November 2020, the first output of the JRC School Program is the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) “Have you seen an alien?”, already available on the EU Academy platform.

The aims of this free-access training are:

• raise teachers and students' awareness on biodiversity in Europe;
• share knowledge on the relationship between nature conservation and human well-being;
to inform on the EASIN platform features as the crossing point of information on invasive alien species (IAS) in Europe;
• promote people's engagement in the monitoring and management of IAS supporting the implementation of the EU Regulation 1143/2014 on IAS;
• create a community of trainers on the “Invasive Alien Species in Europe” App.

Through several activities, including videos, quizzes, a board game and the citizen science app “IAS in Europe”, educators and students will be able to expand their knowledge on nature conservation and IAS, acquire new skills and get involved in biodiversity monitoring.
