European Member States (MS) are requested to report on the activities to implement the EU Regulation 1143/2014 on invasive alien species (IAS), under the provisions of art. 24 (1), by 1st of June 2019. This includes the description of the surveillance system, the distribution of species of Union and national concern, eradication measures, action plans on pathways, inspections and measures to inform the public.
MS reporting will be possible through the European Environment Information and Observation Network (Eionet) portal.
JRC EASIN, working in collaboration with JRC INSPIRE Team and European Environmental Agency, is supporting MS in their reporting obligations by providing data packages on the distribution of Union concern species and with the data coming from MS official notifications, which includes eradication measures applied and their effectiveness.
MS reports will allow the Commission to review the application of the Regulation on IAS, and to submit a report to the European Parliament and to the Council, which may be accompanied by legislative proposals for amendment of the Regulation.
