Thread Opening Text: Should be listed as "freshwater" only

it occurs in some estuarine areas in the Baltic so it is freshwater to brackish, not marine

This is a very interesting point of view. In fact, you are right, but I act as a normal user from the Mediterranean Sea and eastern Atlantic ( = I'm quite a tester), and everybody will have the same doubt as me and will consider your ( = EASIN) statement as wrong or incorrect. The same holds for Mytilopsis leucophaeata (http://easin-eb.jrc.ec.europa.eu/easin-editorial-board-discussions/mytilopsis-leucophaeata). What we consider as "freshwater" in the Mediterranean area, in the Baltic (and also in other areas, may be) is seen as estuarine (brackish) or even as marine. So, this is another point to be explained somewhere somehow, or something should be changed to homogenize...

Everything that occurs in marine areas with salinities >5 is considered 'marine'. So brackish waters are generally marine. If this species occurs in the Baltic in areas with salinities >5 it should remain listed as marine (i.e. it should be FRESHWATER-OLIGOHALINE-MARINE)otherwise it should be FRESHWATER-OLIGOHALINE.
Fabio CROCETTA 5/12/2014 - 1:21 PM
Ok, so something should be changed or at least included among oligohaline
Stelios Katsanevakis 8/28/2014 - 1:08 PM
The species was listed for freshwater, marine and estuarine/oligohaline.
