Thread Opening Text: Mediterranean specimens have been reported by Galil & Goren (2014) as Saurida macrolepis. Which is the correct binomial name?

in most databases, including WoRMS, we see S. undosquamis as a valid name. However in AquaNIS we see 2 distinct species S. undosquamis and S. macrolepis. Needs further investigation to see if we deal with one or two species.

Saurida lessepsianus a new species of lizardfish (Pisces: Synodontidae) from the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea, with a key to Saurida species in the Red Sea. Zootaxa 3956 (4): 559-568 www.mapress.com/zootaxa. The Saurida species in the Mediterannean is identified as Saurida lessepsianus
