Thread Opening Text: This species is excluded from the catalogue. Why?
Argyro ZENETOS 5/6/2014 - 1:27 PM
This species was considered for many years to be a Lessepsian immigrant. However, electrophoretic analysis of Red Sea and Mediterranean populations of this species by Kornfield and Nevo (1972) led to the conclusion that its presence in the Mediterranean preceded the opening of the Suez Canal. Galil (2007) classifies it among the most invasive aliens but Golani says it is a Tethyan relict (Golani pers. communication) http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0025326X06004954
