Thread Opening Text: Is now Dendostrea sandvichensis (G. B. Sowerby II 1871)

in WoRMS both names appear as valid what is the source for Dendostrea sandvichensis (G. B. Sowerby II 1871)?
Fabio CROCETTA 5/7/2014 - 3:48 PM
The source is Huber (2010). Compendium. WORMS is wrong here, they simply forgot to update their database. In fact, if you search for Dendostrea sandvichensis: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=506713 "crenulifera Sowerby" is among synonyms. But they did not connect that page with this one: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=545399 http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=244714 I would say to contact Serge Gofas or Gary Rosemberg as to fix this first in WORMS and then here...

Mediterranean records ascribed to Dendostrea frons/D. folium, Dendostrea sandvichensis (= Alectryonella/Dendostrea crenulifera) and Alectryonella plicatula (Gmelin, 1791) should be listed as a single species "Dendostrea sp." (see Crocetta et al., 2014) 2014 (in press). Crocetta F., Mariottini P., Salvi D. & Oliverio M. Does GenBank provide a reliable DNA barcode reference to identify small alien oysters invading the Mediterranean Sea? Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, doi: 10.1017/S0025315414001027.

A new name (Dendostrea sandvichensis) was created in the Master Table (as R18209), that collates R16529 (Alectryonella crenulifera) and R17468 (Dendostrea crenulifera). A typos was corrected in the family Ostreidae (several species listed as Ostreoidae). Finally, its status was moved to QUESTIONABLE.
