EASIN has recently incorporated more than 35,000 new alien species occurrences into its Geodatabase, thanks to the contributions of several new Data Partners.
The newly integrated datasets include official records and monitoring data provided by national authorities responsible for invasive alien species management, contributing significantly to the coverage and quality of information available through EASIN. In particular, the Swedish, Finnish, and Italian Competent Authorities have contributed a substantial number of observations derived from national monitoring and surveillance activities.
In addition, INVASIVESNET joins the EASIN network as a new Data Partner, providing valuable records that further enrich the geospatial coverage of alien species data.
These additions reflect EASIN’s continuous efforts to expand and strengthen the Alien Species Catalogue and Geodatabase, which gathers updated spatial information on alien species in Europe.
EASIN welcomes new collaborations and continues to encourage researchers, institutions, citizen science initiatives, and database managers to join its expanding network of Alien Species Data Partners. Contributing data to EASIN helps increase the visibility and reuse of datasets while supporting collective efforts to improve the monitoring and management of biological invasions across Europe.
