This is the title of a two-years Citizen Science Project promoted by the University of Palermo (Sicily), to collect data on 19 alien marine species, both plant and animals, along the coasts of Sicily and small Islands. This project follows a two years one launched in 2014 to monitor the presence of Caulerpa cylindracea in the sea surrounding Egadi Islands.
The current project aims to raise awareness among the public and the most interested categories (fishermen, divers, boaters), about the issue of biological invasions through correct information and active participation.
Citizen observations will allow to create a database on alien species, distribution maps, and to follow their spread.
The Project was presented at the EMSEA (European Marine Science Educators Association) 2017 in Malta.
